Save on Energy Bills with a Ductless Mini-Split System
Central air is designed around whole home cooling needs. Central air is the most common form of cooling installed, for multiple reasons, including cooling efficiency, longevity of lifespan, and less often discussed, ease of repair. Central AC components are more readily available, often times carried on AC technicians' trucks, whereas delivery of mini-split repair components can often cause delay in repair.
Our focus at CountyWide is customer satisfaction; whether it be new install, or hopefully repair, at CountyWide we will always discuss all available options that fit your needs. While we will generally lean towards central air solutions, we do find, that on occasion, mini-split solutions work really well for your mudroom/ extended laundry room, closed in garage, or of course for your man cave.
Mini-split systems are great for locations heated by ductless systems—hot water, electric heat or radiant panels. They’re also a good alternative to heat and cool spaces without room for duct work, including additions, garage/man caves, second floor areas, and more.
The system—an outdoor unit and a quiet, wall-mounted indoor unit—is frequently called a mini-split heat pump. Heat pump systems have been used in southern locations for decades to add comfort to homes.
However, mini-splits are more energy efficient because they are zoned systems. This means you can set the heating or cooling in individual areas. In contrast to traditional electric heating systems, the EPA confirmed ENERGY STAR®-rated models can lower your heating expenses by up to 50 percent. This is due to the fact that mini-splits transfer heat instead of generating it.
A mini-split system could also reduce your cooling bill by 30 percent, in contrast to conventional air conditioning. The system is able to limit energy use because it uses compressors and fans to regulate cooling speeds.
Because there are no ducts on split systems, you won’t have the energy loss associated with ducted systems like central air or heating.
Adding a wall-mounted mini-split system is low-key. Your home won’t be torn apart because there are no ducts or air vents.
